Card QR Code is a Trello Power-Up that displays a QR code with the active card's url. The code can be printed and used as a physical link to the card, or can be displayed in a mobile device to another user to point them to that specific Trello card. This site hosts the official documentation.

Use cases

Generally, Card QR Code can be used anywhere a physical link to the information contained in a Trello card may be useful. Current users range from manufacturers who need to associate a Trello card with a specific physical product, to estate agents who want to provide potential buyers with a QR code linking to a specific property for sale or to rent.

I developed this software when I began using Trello cards to store the recipes of my ferments. Rather than sticking labels on them, I could print and tape the QR code of the relevant Trello card on each of them. I was then able to scan a QR code with my phone to load that ferment's Trello card. Different QR code colours helped differentiate the various types of ferments.

Free functionality

When you install the Trello Power-Up Card QR Code you have immediate access to the free functionality. This allows you to customise the QR code colour and dimensions in the printout. These settings are saved for each card individually.

The licensed version

You can purchase a licence directly from within the Power-Up. In addition to the free functionality, you would be able to edit and customize the text above and below the QR code. Additionally, while in the free version the QR code colour and size can only be defined individually for each card, the licensed version allows you to also set defaults for all the cards in the current board. In this way you can define a common style and text for all of your QR codes.

You can test the licenced functionality for free for 21 days. No payment or personal details are needed to activate the trial, and the Power-Up will simply revert to the free version should you decide not to purchase it.

Configuring the text around the QR code

All the configuration is managed in the Edit view of the Power-Up, where text above and below the QR code can be entered with the same markup language used in the description of a standard Trello Card, including images.

You can use a set of placeholders — such as [cardname] or [boardname] — which are then replaced by the appropriate parameter in the display view as well as in the printout.

You may also use commands included in square brackets to change the alignment (left, center, right) of the text above and below the QR code, and of the QR code itself.
